Copperpot
Producer, DJ
Copperpot switched gears from skateboarding to hip-hop in the mid-90’s, experimenting with turntablism, before studying English and music theory in college with plans to become a teacher. After living abroad in Europe for a time and running into U.K. emcee Braintax, he returned to Chicago in 2001 and submerged himself into music production. His first production credit came on the Walk Through Walls album by Typical Cats’ member Qwazaar in 2001. 2004 saw the release of his first album, Chapter Seven, featuring the vocal talents of Braintax, Profound, Iomos Marad and Akbar, among others, over Copperpot’s production. He followed that with WYLA? in 2004 featuring vocals from KRS-One, Masta Ace, Edo G, Psalm One and more. His last project was the 2006 collaborative effort with Chicago emcee Longshot; together known as CopperShot.
