Brother El
MC, DJ, Producer, Radio Personality

Brother El credits his parents for steering him towards music and the arts as an alternative to the negativity he witnessed around his neighborhood. In 1995 he founded “The Hip Hop Project” radio show at Loyola University’s WLUW (88.7-FM). Although he no longer anchors the show, it continues to this day, over 20 years later. In addition to being a well-respected emcee and producer, Brother El is formally trained as an audio engineer and graphic designer. Combining all of his talents, he founded The Beat Bank, an independent record label and production facility, in 1995. Some of his earliest production was done for Earatik Statik and in 2001 released his self-produced debut album Through the Cracks of Concrete to critical acclaim.
