Black A.G.
MC, Producer

Black A.G. first hit the scene with the 1990 Quicksilver Cooley-produced cassette single “Straight Gangsta Mac”, but it was his second single “Fame Goes to Your Head” b/w “No Typa Drugdeala” the following year that pushed him into the spotlight. Released on one of Chicago hip-hop’s first independent labels, Darn Good Records, the video for “No Typa Drugdeala” had a long run on the phone-in request channel The Box. The rarity and eventual cult status of this release led to a limited re-release in 2013. The collaboration between Black A.G. and Quicksilver Cooley, who would go on to craft beats for a young Tung Twista, among others, led to three full-length releases, including 1995’s Tell the Truth.
